What Character Issues Should I Disclose?

You and all family members included in your application must carefully review the Character Declaration and respond “YES” or “NO” to the character-related question on the ImmiBird questionnaire.

Character Declaration

By selecting “No,” you are confirming that neither you nor your family members have:

  • Been charged with an offense that is currently awaiting legal proceedings.
  • Been convicted of a crime in any country (including convictions that have been expunged from official records).
  • Been the subject of any domestic violence, family violence order, or any other protection order issued by a court, tribunal, or similar authority.
  • Been subject to an arrest warrant or listed on an Interpol notice.
  • Been found guilty of a sexual offense involving a child (including cases where no conviction was recorded).
  • Been listed on a sex offender registry.
  • Been acquitted of a crime due to mental incapacity or insanity.
  • Been deemed unfit to stand trial by a court.
  • Been directly or indirectly involved in, or associated with, activities posing a risk to national security in Australia or any other country.
  • Been charged with or indicted for crimes such as genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, torture, slavery, or any other serious international offenses.
  • Had associations with individuals, groups, or organizations involved in criminal activities.
  • Been connected to organizations engaged in violence or violent acts (including war, insurgency, freedom fighting, terrorism, or protest) either abroad or in Australia.
  • Served in any military force, police force, state-sponsored or private militia, or intelligence agency (including secret police).
  • Received military or paramilitary training, or been trained in the use of weapons, explosives, or the production of chemical/biological materials.
  • Participated in or been associated with people smuggling or human trafficking activities.
  • Been removed, deported, or excluded from any country (including Australia).
  • Overstayed a visa in any country (including Australia).
  • Owed any outstanding debts to the Australian Government or any public authority in Australia.

If any of the above statements apply to you or your family, you must answer “Yes” and provide the necessary details.
